Default Do Your Headers Leak?

basically its as the title states. I've been thinking about getting a set of headers for the car, but hate dealing with header leaks. I had an older truck with some hooker headers on it and couldnt get it to stop leaking no matter what I did, or what gasket I bought. I just dont want to have the same problems on my car.

btw I will be putting either B&B or Kooks Lt's, if I do get them.

If yours do leak could you post up the brand, and the gasket you used.

The problem was you bought Hooker Headers. I had those and the header flange is not smooth like QTP or Kooks Headers. The Hooker Headers will never seal and mine leaked as well. Ever since replacing those junk headers with QTP's, no leaks and they fit better. Out of you options, get the Kooks and use GM OEM Gaskets.

yeah GM oem gaskets, GM was thinking when they made those some even reuse the stockers when doing headers as well.

I've got ARH longtubes, LS2 bolts, and Percy's aluminum gaskets. I retorqued them a couple times after heat cycling. Zero leaks so far.

seal4good gaskets compress and even if they do leak they dont burn out best 40 bucks i've spent for my headers and would def recommend arp stud bolt kit for headers. not only does it make header install easyer but they dont loosen up ive had mine on for 3k and didn't have to tighten the bolts yet and no leaks what so ever

I've had several different XS headers on and off my car 6 times using the same stock gaskets and have never had any leaks.
