dont know crud about cams
Okay guys/girls, got a 98 z-28 a4, 122,000 on the clock and its time to go heavy duty on this car. See im getting picked on by my car buddies due to the fact that im the slowest in the group. The cars got problems but is in the middle of getting fixed.
what is done to the car already:
slp cold air
slp 85mm maf
mac mids ceramic w/ ory
slp lm2 catback.
im getting a set of 241 casted heads and im about to p/p them. Need to know what cam would go good. Mind you its a daily driver and weekend street car, so it cant be like huge and all but i want a significant gain in performance. Oh did i mention that a 4400 stall is being installed as well. Yes yes i know " you said it was a daily driver". I have many friends that have that size stall and they have no probs driving back and forth to work. Needless to say HELP!!!! like i said i know nothing about cams. Got any ideas?

Try the internals section. A lot of cam stuff in there.
Here's a good read...

If you are buying heads why not go LS6?, not sure of the cost difference but will flow better and saves p/p the LS1 heads. There are some heads and cam deals from sponsers.
I went Patriot H/C, and very happy with it.

oh my a 4400 stall... looks like you wanto do this one right... Big cam for a stall like that and ported heads... not that you need it but... why not?... id go something over a .590 lift and over a 230 duration. If you dont want a killer cam go smaller but something like a 233/239 or a MS3 or a f-14 or something would be nnnasty with that setup, what is your rear gear ratio, and loose the middy headers.... that setup will (providint you dont blow the rear) run you well into the 11's.

as for the heads
the ls1 241 casts that im getting are pretty much free. But from what i have heard, if you p/p the 241 they flow just as good if not better than the ls6. None the less ls6 heads would be nice, I just dont feel its necessary buying 2000 dollars worth of heads then to get free ones with low miles and p/p for 400 dollars. The low cost out weighs the need for ls6 heads at the moment. As for the gearing the stock rearend is in still but moser 9" is almost here w/3.73's in it. I think once i blow the trans a 4l80e will take its place. What do you guys think about that setup? Would it be street worthy, track or both. All i know is that the pt4400 stall form yank is very fun. I rode in my boys car (heads, cam, gears) and his car is all over the rode till about 45-50 mph but once he hooks its gone......!!
