Default Help, Leaking Oil After Ls6 Intake Install

Well like the title says I installed my ls6 intake yesterday and now I am leaking oil. I broke the oil sensor and had to replace it. When installed the new one I did not have a socket long enough to for it, so I just hand tightened it. When the engine cools down i will try to see if it is loose. Any ideas of any thing else it could be before start grabing stuff back there. Or does anyone know what size socket it takes and i will pick up a one on my way home from work. Thanks for any help

if its like most of the older ones, they make a special socket for them. I know NAPA carries one. Im sure lots of other local auto parts stores will have one as well

Think of it this way, before the intake NO leak

after intake install, LEAK!

You know you broke a sensor and put one in hand tight, the system creates pressure upwards of 40-60 PSI, its not going to hold.

I had the same problem. After I replaced the sensor I also hand tighted it. My pressure is reading 80psi. Better than zero I am taking mine to the shop.

The torque spec is 15 lb ft so don't overtighten it - not that you'd be able to get a torque wrench back there....

Just talked to napa they have the 1-1/16 socket for the sensor. I am going to pick it up on the way home. I checked my oil and it looks to be O.K. as far the level is concerned. I tried to see if the sensor is loose but it feels tight, guess it can still leak through the threads. I hope it last the 30 miles back home. Saturday I will take the damn intake off again torque the sensor to 15 FT lbs thanks for the info^. My hands should have healed by then and be ready for another cat fight

I'd try getting the socket on there first and tightening it before removing the intake again...just "guestimate" the torque. Only reason I mentioned it was so you wouldn't tighten it too much and break it off.
