Default Stock Y pipe vs. aftermarket

If stock f-bodys come with a Y pipe then why do people invest their money into buying an aftermarket Y pipe? Does it flow better or something?

The most common reason people will purchase Y-pipes is because they bought headers. LT headers, mid-lengths, and most shorties will not work with the stock y-pipe. Most LT headers come with a y-pipe that will fit. You will rarely find someone with headers and a completely stock y-pipe. People who get shorties often just have to modify the y-pipe, but people who get LT headers can re-use the stock pipe after modifying it, but why you know? It's easier to buy one that already fits. Also it is very difficult to modify a rectangle tube to fit a round LT header outlet.

ALSO, people swap out their y-pipe when doing a cat back exaust to cut back on backpressure which will net more HP
