Default LS1 Manifold restriction with MS3???

I have a MS3 coming next week, I was thinking it would be ok for now. Unfortunately I'm hearing that it will choke the cam worse than I thought. I was hoping to break 375whp N/A but am having some doubts now. Anyone have any input?

If it were me, I'd look for a used LS6 or start saving for a 90/90 setup.

Either that or find a plug for the EGR hole and swap the manifolds with your '01.

Your factory LS1 intake will definitely be a restriction. If you have all of the other normal bolt-ons such as long tubes, off-road y- or x-pipe, lid, etc., 375+ RWHP shouldn't be a problem. It depends on how much power the car is making before the swap.

FYI, we have one used LS6 intake ready for a new home for $375 if you're interested.

definatly gotta go LS6 on that cam, those big intake lifts and durations, youre killing it with the ls1. Itll be a night and day difference,

but yeah, like you said, id try ot do it all at once, get everything tuned together and be done with it,

I was running the ms3 cam and stock ls1 intake and stock tb it went 11.79 at 115. All i did was swap on one of my ported tb's and the car went 11.51 at 118. Then swapped to an ls6 intake and the car ran consistent 11.20's at 120. So you can see that just from a stock ls1 and stock tb to a ls6 and fully ported one i picked up almost .6 and 5mph so you can see how big of a restriction the ls1 intake really is. This was on a cam only car, stock heads and stock bottom end, just cam. Tim

Yeah... I'm in the same situation. My new motor budget fell short of getting an intake and headers... so I'm running a Lingenfelter 346 w/Patriot LS6 Stg 3 heads, and GT-11 cam with an LS1 intake. I'm sure it'll kill it until I can afford a FAST or the new street warior.

I just never realized how bad the intake was, didn't think it was that restrictive on the motor. I can't belive it cut just about .5 of the ET, that's nuts.

It isn't to bad my car with SLP Lid, SLP LTs, 12" extensions off the headers, and the MS3 i put down 386rwhp 367rwtrq. I was shooting for anything above 380, and got 386 so i left happy. I know i can easily break 400, and get alot more potential out of the cam with an LS6 Intake.
