Default Throttle body size

so, the 2002's T/A 's had the LS6 intakes. i've read somewhere (tho i can't find it anymore) that the TB size is a 70mm, and the LS6 intake can take up to 75mm... anyone have info to confirm/deny this?

Factory tb is about 72mm. We remove the restrictive .0120" ridge and just about achieve 75mm total opening when we port them. The actual opening is larger but not sure how much. Anyone???

I believe 90mm. I would just have your factory ported and polished. Save your $ for other mods. Factory TB's modified work very well!

After porting a stock tb is a true 75mm all the way through. From factory they are right around 71.5mm. An ls6 intake opening is 78mm so with anything larger than that you would have to use a reducer, this making it pointless going larger since the air has to restrict to get into the intake. Ported stocker and ls6 is a proven combo, next is to step up to a 90/90.

So I am assuming the small part of the throttle body is on the firewall side, or on the radiator side?

What horsepower are the ported 75mm throttle bodies good too?

If you take off the TB, you will see a lip that goes all the way around. It is very noticable. Take the TB apart, grind this lip off and smooth it out. It's easy and should pick you up 5 to 10 rwhp depending on your current mods.

Best bud put on a FAST 78mm TB, works fine. He kinda regrets since he cant use it unless he stayed with a 78mm FAST intake, he wants a 90mm, but im sure he can sell it.

Do a search for that issue. Bo white polishes and ports them. Gains of 5-8 rwhp on dyno is not uncommon. I think his website is portsculptors.com

Ok let me ge this right. In order to have a 90 mm throttle body you have to have a 90mm intake, correct?

Um, I did.

I just got answers that said "about" and they varied.

So I was wanting to know the official size, confirmed.
