Default Header Flange

Anybody have a problem replacing their long tube headers after installing ARP head studs. Is there some grinding that needs to take place on the flange to get them back on? Just checkn to make sure before I start ginding on a $600.00 set of ceramic coated hookers.

Head studs or header studs? I'm not sure why head studs would be an issue, so I'm guessing you mead header studs. You shouldn't have to grind, but just take your time and the header should slip in right over the studs.

It's the head stud that's preventing the header from lining up. Can't get the header screws in because the flange is bumping one of the studs.

You'll have to remove a bit of material from the flange with a carbide bit on a die grinder. Mark the exact spot of interference with a felt marker, then cut a bit away & try again.

Hmm, I had no problem with my QTP's and head studs. None of the studs came remotely close to the header. Post a picture if you can, I'm curious to see what this looks like.

I'll snap a few and post them up, but it definately looks like some grinding is going to have to take place.

Notice how far the studs stick up from the head, it makes it hard to align the flange. I think its about time to break out the grinder.

I don't think my head studs were sticking up that far.... I'll have to snap a picture tonight and check on it. Could you possibly not have screwed the studs into the block far enough?

I torqued them down as far as I could, didn't want to over do it. Those flanges on the hookers are really thick and they needed a little groove notched out for the stud. It was the the exact same way on the other side. It didn't take much, just a little grind in that one spot on both headers and they worked perfectly.

Maybe I didn't notice a problem then because I have QTP's.
