Default LS2 in place of an LS1?

I'm not sure where to put this question so you can move it if you want. I have an 02 WS6 that is all stock except exhaust and its still is a low milage car but I was wondering if a stock LS2 long block would interchange with minimal work? You know how the Gen 1 could be interchanged. Seems to me that it would be a 75hp gain right off the bat. I don't know just wondering

I believe you would need to change the reluctor wheel on the crank, most if not all of the knock sensors, retune the pcm, and alot of other things im sure im leaving out. 75 hp is relatively easy to pick up with minimal mods. Not to mention it would be ALOT cheaper and easier to mod your current motor up than try and do an engine change. FWIW you could put an aftermarket cam in your car with a FAST intake for example and there would be your 75hp. Just my .02 tho.

If the LS2 that you are looking at as a 24 reluctor wheels, your in luck, there will be less to change over. The LS2 came with both the 24 and 58 wheels on the crank.

I don't mean to sound stupid but what is a reluctor wheel and what cars had the 24 wheels?

On the crank, there is a reluctor wheel that has either 24 or 58 teeth.. it is use by a sensor on the side of the block near the start to pickup the location of the crank and feed the PCM with that information.

Not sure of which LS2 had the 24 vs 58.. if you seach you will be able to find out.
