Default I gutted the CATS should I get rid of the AIR system?

I got my cats gutted like 3 months ago. I want to clean up the engine compartment a lil, I saw an article that states the AIR system is useless with gutted cats. Is this true? Any one recommend it? The mod claims no SES codes.

I say get rid of it, There is no reason for it if you have no cats and no sniffer test.

I have the Hooker Catback, the cats are gutted, I also had the flatenned Y pipes and the small collector that meets the catback replaced for less restriction. It sounds pretty loud especially at WOT. I like it plenty, especially when I'm bout to get on the freeway and I stay in 5th gear till 3500 rpm people just get scared sometimes. LOL. I did see some power come out of this mod, cant say how much but I recommend it.

I picked up 2 tenths with my gutted cats but I also am running the ASA cam. It needs to breath. I love the sound.

The original question still stands. Is it a good idea to remove the AIR system if you have gone and gutted the cats ? Someone please comment on this!

No comments? Wow I thought more people would like to clean up the engine compartment. With the AIR system gone things would look cleaner. More room for the Valve Covers to really shine. http://www.ls1camaro.net/Graphics/AIR.jpg

With gutted cats or no cats you won't need the AIR system. You will need computer tuning to clear the SES light, but it will not affect performance if you don't delete the code.
