Default Ideal Location for Cutout

I am planning on getting a cutout soon with an electric plate. I was just wondering where the ideal place would be. I can only afford one so it has do be somewhere after the Y-pipe and before the muffler. I was thinking of placing it on the section of pipe that points downwards thats right after the axle. This way the cutout and plate are nice and high, and the exhaust will point downwards when it comes out.

And some additional questions:

1) Is this area(described above), a good place to weld in the cutout? Will there be any fitting problems?

2) Where should I route the wire for the electric plate?

3) Is there a better place to weld in the cutout that won't decrease ground clearence?

4) What pipe size is this pipe that runs from the Y-pipe to the muffler? If it's 3", do I order a 3" cutout and electric plate?

Thanks alot. You can just quote this and put in the answers below the questions, easiest way. Thanks again!

This is only conjecture since mine is still
sitting in its box, but my plan is to use a
3" SS header flange (also in box) welded onto
the first bend of the I-pipe, just before the
axle, so the cutout sees the straight shot
and you bypass that hump & crease in the axle
arch too. Not that it probably matters a lot.
I'm gonna hand-whittle the header flange so
it fits up nice and tight, making the McCord
plus flange only take up maybe 1" of space
(since there isn't that much to spare).

I got the flanges from Summit pretty reasonable,
stainless weld-on has to be better than that fugly
cutout Y in mild steel cut/cobbled into the I pipe
like you see on the cutout web pages. Talk about
pride in workmanship... :p

I have mine just about under the rear passenger seating area. Where the floor pan rolls up to make the bottom of the seating area. It's a nice little place for the cutout to fit into.....and retains most of the under-car clearance.
