im curious too, why did you need a tranny jack?? whatever anyway, have a friend help man...holding the tubes in place for a min can get to be quite heavy...do it in a well lit area so you can see everything....i suggest using fod boxes(or something to hold nuts & bolts) it isn't that hard to accomplish, check the stickies..

You can get them on without lifting/dropping tranny. You won't need to raise your motor either. Make sure to disconnect the steering knuckle on the driver side and you'll have to take the starter off for some room on the passenger side. I'm pretty sure we did driver side from top and passenger from bottom. (jeesh that was a while ago)
Good luck.
Good luck.

I used a jack like the one pictured. Except mine was from sears, the jack and two stands cost $99 about 6 years ago.
When I put my headers in I supported the car on the jackstands while doing all the work, to put the headers in i put the jack under the front cross member and went up all the way, once they were in i put it back down on the stands to do the rest. Car in signature, drivers side went in with a hard push, pass side went in no problem. Only thing I removed was the old stuff, spark plugs and wires.

Check out the Sticky on Exhaust...The header section is down a little and EXTREMELY helpful. Good luck!

did mine in 6 hours with an extra set of hands. i didnt have to remove the steering knuckle, didnt have to lift the engine, had to cut a tab off the block, but didnt have to grind the k-member at all. diff headers fit differently, so my advice is to remove the wires and spark plugs, then shimy the headers up as far as they'll go until you hit something or they slide in.

Did mine in 4hrs with a friend helping. Only problems we ran into was two manifold bolts stripped comming out, egr was a lil pain to get hooked back up and had to mess with the y for a while to get it to fit correctly. Other than that the headers slid right in with no disconnecting the steering shaft, lifting the motor, grinding anything, etc......goodluck on the install.

The only thing I had to do was cut a block tab on the driver's side. Go ahead and do that and you will not have to remove the steering knuckle. Takes about 30 seconds with a sawzall. If you have to grind the k-member you are doing something wrong. Did mine in about 8 hours, but I took my time. Also a 10mm ratchet wrench saved me a lot of time for the passenger rear bolt. (do that one from underneath. Also you probably won't be able to get a torque wrench on that one.) Torque to 18ftlbs starting with in the center. Good luck. You'll do fine. The lift will be a great asset. BTW, remove your plugs and wires. Should be evident, but just in case you weren't planning on it, you really have to do that too.

Really easy to do!! Especially w/ a lift. Took me 4hours by myself in the driveway w/ 4 jack stands and a floor jack. Honestly the hardest damned part was the freaking gaskets lol. Took me about 10-15 mins a piece to get those bastards to stay while i held up the header and threaded a bolt.
Just remember to be patient and try different angles. I was able to get both in without having to remove or cut anything aside from the heat shields.
Didn't touch the motor mounts
didn't have to lift the motor
didn't even look at the steering rod
Didn't have to cut the block
Nothing just slipped em right in and bolted em up. Pacesetters btw.

About 5 hrs taking a few breaks and with a extra set of hands. I replaced headers, spark plugs, wires, motor oil, and tranny fluid all at once. Just take your time with the header install. Having the right tools will be a big help.
