Default Whats a good cam for my Z?

I have a 01 LS1 z28 with a 6 speed combo. The mods i have done are: slp lid, hooker cat back, ram air hood, and a low temp water thermostate. I woul like to install a cam that is gonna give me good power gains but i also like the lopey sound when the car is running. I dont know anything about cams so let me know what you guys think. Also i was thinking about buying a jet stage 2 performance chip for my car. Are these chips worth the money, what hp gains do they usually give?

don't buy the chips...just get it tuned....anyway finish you bolt ons...lt's, p&p tb, ftra/ssra/jaam, pulley, tune.....if you want to cam it then it will be better because you have better flow and the result will be more power to the wheels.....with all bolt ons and good tune you could be sitting 345-365, depends i guess on brands and tuners......what do you want to do with your car? weekend driver, strip car, all around bad *** car? lol

I wouldn't install anything any smaller than a 224/224 cam. I run a 228/230 and it drives VERY close to stock.

It would be used as a daily driver. I just love the sound of a rough cam, but i just am not sure of how much money i want to put into the car with all the bolt ons seeing how gas prices are going. If they get to high, i may not beable to afford all the gas it takes. So with the mods that i have right now, a cam just would be practical?

There is no “chip” for your car. The Jet programmer probably makes minor changes to timing and fuel and may provide some performance benefit. If you own a Windows laptop you would be much better off buying tuning software such as HPTuners instead of the Jet or similar programmer. Laptop-based software will do everything the stand-alone programmers will do and much more.

not really, with a cam you are going to pay more and get less if ya get me...the cost of buying it/supporting mods, installing it, tune....you won't even get that good of a sound because of the stock manifolds....
