LS6 intake and question about EGR and non-EGR engines..
Okay so the 98-00 engines had EGR and AIR, and the '01- present ones do not.
What did they change on them besides those two things? Did they add something else to compensate for the loss of air and egr?
And they must have eliminated them for a reason, anyone know why?
Just wondering. I'd like to put a LS6 intake on my '00 Formy eventually, so I'd end up eliminating them.
And as I understand it, after doing that a tune will shut off the SES light? Does it also just remove it from the system? Here in RI they do emission checks based on the OBD...they just plug into the port under the dash, no tailpipe sniffer. If the OBDsays everything is ok, you pass. Will the OBD "forget" that AIR and EGR have been removed?
Thanks!!

All of the cars had AIR, just no EGR for the '01 and '02 cars. Both of them can be deleted from the computer with tuning software. On the ODBII check they come up as N/A, at least that's what my printout shows.

The 01-02 cars had the LQ4 cam
EGR ELIMINATED
Application of the LQ4 cam produced a valuable side benefit: elimination of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. The new cam creates more valve overlap, or periods when both intake and exhaust valves are partially open at the same time. Increased overlap allows the LS1 to meet National Low Emissions Vehicle (NLEV) certification without EGR. Removal of EGR reduces engine plumbing and potential leak sources.

Does the manifold need to be modified, I've heard people taking a dremel to the underside and removing some stuff for better airflow, will these need to be done for an 00 LS1 as opposed to an 02 LS1. I too am looking into this for my 00 Formula.
