Default Ok the aftermarket is so dizzying I dont know where to start what are gimmicks?

Ok has with every aftermarket some gadgets and gizmos dont do j/s, for instance I believe that the tps enhancer doesnt work if I recall. And on the g/p's the coils are just fine even when modded the coils put out enough voltage. I just wanna know what i should do mod wise ignition wise, And what I need and what I dont need I'm probabaly gonna need a tune up real quick because I dont know what's been done and what hasnt. The previous owner did a semi good job of keeping track of oil changes and ****. what I mean by tuneup I mean plugs, wires, fuel, oil filter, coils, & pcv valve. The whole reason why I'm asking is because I wanna go semi high performance this time. Anyways any opnions from experts and newbies would be appreciated. Oh do they make taylor thunderbolt 10.5's for our cars? I know it's probabaly excessive for a stock motor but I wanna try to squeeze has much out of it has possible without diggin into the motor. Thanks in advance

Matt

year and specifics on the car would help.

coils are fine even on HIGH hp levels
tps booster is useless
hypertech (and most handhelds) programmers are crap compared to a good dyno or street tune
turbonator is junk

any aftermarket wires work fine, they are so short on a ls1, that you don't hve to spend $100 on some fancy ones. i like my Taylor spiro-pros for $50. you won't see any more power with $$ wires. same goes for plugs...stick with tried and true...and inexpensive...NGK TR55s. they are $2 each and work just as well as the $10/each plats.
