Question help with LS6 intake swap

I am swapping my ls1 intake with an LS6. On the front of my ls1 intake there are two holes that have a metal inside inserted into them for the threads of the screw to drive into. on the ls6 intake I have there are holes but they do not have the metal parts inside for the threads. This is where I would mount the bracket for the cables I think. (I shipped my TB off to get ported). anyone know how to fix this small but annoying problem? I have already tried putting the screw half way in the hole and prying it out but the metal cylinder doesn't come out...

Is this a GM LS6 intake like a Vette came with? If so they didnt have a throttle cable like we do and thus no bracket. Maybe it didnt have those threaded inserts pressed in because no bracket was required. You would probably be ok using some self tapping screws to hold the bracket on. There shouldnt be much force on the bracket.

Look inside the the intake and see if the inserts have a shoulder on them. You may have to push them in to remove them.

Look at the side of the intake and see what the parts number is and post it up...

01-02 LS6 Manifold #12561182
03+ #12573572

So maybe you have an 03+ and there may be something that doesn't work there.. ie it's a vette intake

With the vette intake I think the back of it is different than with the ones on our cars.. Not 100% sure on any of it, I just know that when I was buying mine, the guy who was doing my engine swap said to be careful for some vette ones..

If there is no metal sleeve to screw the bolts into it is from a corvette.

You have to pop the sleeves out and insert them into the new intake.

Here is a pic to help. it's the part the arrow is pointing to, but this is the LS1 intake. the LS6 is missing this part to put screws into.

You can cut out the old inserts and then epoxy them into the LS6 intake. Just clean the hole out very good and scuff it with something so the epoxy can bight. Then clean it out with alcohol or something for a final cleaning

I would rather not "cut" them out because there is someone else wanting the intake.
I tried heating up the intake in the over at 150* (like the headlights for the whistler mod) and the putting a screw in and trying to pry the screw out. it only came out less than an eight of an inch.. any other ideas??

Did you try to push them in to remove them. They are made to hold a load that is pulling on them, so they probably have to be pushed in to be removed.

they didn't move. but I found out that the sleeves that are for the TB are the same thread so I just popped them out and will have to modify these and press them into the new intake. THANKS A LOT for the suggestion!!
