Default Ground strap touching alt case

I pulled the alternator tonight because its not charging. I noticed the ground strap from block to chassis was laying across the top. Would this cause any type of problem?

OK thanks. I'm going to tear it apart today and hope I find something obvious.

Considering that the alternator is bolted to the motor, which is grounded as well, there isn't an issue. Now if the grounding strap was coming in contact with the positive charging terminal post, then that would be a short and a bigger issue.

Gotcha, installed a new alt and everything is normal again.
