Oil filters are a compromise between flow and filtration. The more you filter, the less you flow and vice versa.

The easy way to get more flow without giving up filtration is to increase the filter's surface area...put a bigger filter on the car. Tough to do on an LS1 because it'll extend below the oil pan and increase the risk of damage.

The less easy way to do it is to use higher-quality filtration media, but this increases the cost of the filter.

I don't have any technical info on the filter you're looking at, so it's tough to say whether it achieves its increased flow by sacrificing filtration or they've constructed it of super-spiffy filtration media.

Exactly. I don't really want my filter to work that well. Shouldn't have a bunch of crap in the oil anyway.

I think I've got a Purolator in there right now.
Let's see what Bob thinks about it.

Bob has great info and it's a good investment of time to do the research.

I went with Baldwin filters for my LS1, they're reasonable if you buy a 6-pack from adiesel.com and seemed to be the best balance in terms of flow/filtration/cost.

Why not just get a Purolator Pure One for $5 and change at pep boys or advance auto?

When you do some research on flow/filtration differences between that and the Baldwin equivalent, you'll know.

Because all paper filters are the same: GARBAGE.
