Default Contemplating exhaust setup muffler on header

Okay, I posted a while back about this and I mocked it up and wanted to get some opinions. I was thinking about putting some bullets straight off the headers and running it that way. What do you guy's think powerwise and the way it will sound. Will I lose power? I thought there was a magazine article a while back that said that this setup made the most power. I am going to be running an MS4 and will be running a 4k stall. So all I am really concerned about is top end power. Well here's the pics.

no back pressure= no low end. Its also going to be almost unbearable to drive with all that sound resonating in the cabin

IMO If you put turndowns on there that extend farther out it and aim them slightly down and out it will be no worse than regular dumped at the axle True duals with the same mufflers. I used to have dumped TDs and they resonated inside the car like crazy. Same mufflers clamped on the headers were louder like each exhaust pulse you can hear clearly but it doesn't resonate as bad. Everyone says there will be a loss in low end but bahh... that is what a stall is for.

That's what I'm saying, I don't care about low end, the car will never see it. It's going to have a 4k stall matched with an MS4 lol, I don't plan on having a low end anyways! This setup should scream up top though right? And I cannot see how it would sound bad at all. Plus I'll be saving 50 lbs or so with all the piping! Seems like a good way to do it no?

Plus this is the one that I was going to go with. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Overall length of this thing is 20". That should give me the needed length of pipe after the O2's and the end of the header to allow everything to run correctly right? I thought you only needed like 15 or so inches of pipe after each header to give the needed back pressure?

extend the mufflers off the headers a foot or so, you'll be happier.

Can I ask why you say this? If it's about noise resonance I don't mind it being directly under me. If it is for power sake then I'm all for it.

Asmodeus, how will running my exhaust this way effect my power output?

You'll gain on the top end, and with minimal loss of low end.

How about sound? I know the sound varies from an X to a Y to an H pipe setup. Is this a bad sounding setup?

Its a great light weight setup and will sound fine. anyhow if you don't like it you can reuse the mufflers for a more standard TD setup with a crossover pipe.

It will be louder than an X or H with the same mufflers.

Cool thanks, I went ahead with the Borla XR-1's to put on the end of each header. I will have them put turn downs angled out on each one so it's not resonating directly off of the ground.

By the way, how much louder are we talking here?

Not sure exactly but send me a sound clip, I've been considering the XR-1's in a similar setup myself.
