Default Kooks Header Guys??? (pic inside)

I have attached a picture....I have a brand new set of Kooks 1 3/4" Long tubes. I checked the flange on the header with a metal ruler. The ruler touches in the middle and doesn't on each end. So it rocks side to side. If I split the difference the gap at each end is .020 Is this something to worry about or am i just being picky? Or is this normal with header flanges? I have an 02 WS6 with 8K miles on it. Could i just reuse the stock gaskets, get new stock, or get the percy soft aluminum. That header flange is 3/8" I didn't know how much the bolts would flex that tight into the head.

Thanks fellas.....

tough call.....it appears to be bent...or not true....whatever you wanna call it......
my heads were outta my car when i got my headers so i just sat them right on the side and they matched up great.....i would hate to see you go through all the work to install them and have a leak.....espically on a 8k mi car......call the manf. and send them a pic maybe they will have some advice....
btw---for the price on a set of kooks.....wouldnt figure anyone to ever have a prob with them.....

dude put them on the car with the metal gaskets provided from kooks
torque the bolts from the inside out evenly and you should be fine
that is normal with the kooks headers i install about 2 sets a month

acceptable for a header flange. torque inside out, with a good MLS gasket or the felt percy's you got with the kit it should seal fine

Well, I didn't get no metal gaskets from Kooks. They included some flimsy paper gaskets, so I just re-used on my stockers on my header install and bought some new GM ones when I added the Heads. If Kooks gave you metal ones, you should be alright then.

Kooks gave me just a 1/16" thick piece of aluminum for gaskets. It says to use high temp rtv on both sides towards the head and the header. I think im gonna use new gm mls.....do you concur....?

I used the KOOKS gaskets in the package and I haven't had any problems. I used the new bolts supplied as well. Just remember to tighten and do and warm up cool down and tighten once again. I've heard of people having to tighten them 2 or 3 times over. Enjoy your headers, I deff have enjoyed mine.

Nice ride too! I have 10,400 miles on mine.

I would have them get you another set. Cause after you install them and they leak, its will be a PITA to swap them later.
