FAST Intake/ NW TB Problem... Help
My buddy installed a FAST 90 and a NW TB today... Brand new from the box. Also has the FAST burst panels installed as well cause he runs nitrous. And FAST fuel rails... Everythings installed, and good to go... So he starts it up, and the good thing is it starts, the bad thing is that when it starts, it idles for a half a sec normally then it revs really high all by itself... Hence having to shut off the car immediately... Keep in mind that his foot is not on the gas pedal, and the Throttle plate is closed... Does anyone know what could cause this??? The car is a 02 Z28 A4... It has Heads, Cam, and most the other bolt on ****... Before the Intake and TB after he got it tuned, it would barely stay running, now with the FAST stuff on its doing this... Any help, or anyone that has experienced this please reply... Thanks..

I had a question about this... Whats the difference between drive by wire, and drive by cable... My 02 SS was a drive by wire, but I noticed his Z was Cable driven...??? I am absolutely clueless about this... That does make sense... Is it possible it has a vacuum problem? I dont know...

Read up on it, some have had to elongate the bolt holes for the TPS sensor too. As far as you having drive by wire I've never heard of an Fbody having it unless it was a conversion. Maybe I'm wrong. As far as differences the computer adjusts differently with drive by wire vs cable but other than that they still 'do' the same thing.

Check every place there could be a vac leak. Start simple and search till you find it. Could be a a number of places for it to leak considering the intakes three piece design as well as having burst panels in. Check all the vac lines. Possible that one was simply left off.

Wut's up everyone...I am "the friend" in question...It looks like there is an issue with the burst panels...Someone posted something like this issue before, and his problem happened when he was driving... I will be taking everything off and replacing the lower intake and NOT running the FAST burst panels! This site ROCKS by the way! Thanks for the post Rockstar!

I wouldn't be able to tune it, the second I start the car, it goes into a free rev...I don't wanna let it hit the limiter, so we have been shutting it off when it gets to about 3500-4000... It appears that the burst panels are staying open, causing the issue...
"appears" is the key word tho!
LOL!
Will fill you in! Thanks everyone!

Hey 408...
My problem was totally different than yours, my burst plates were blown causing the issue (free rev until limiter if I did not shut it down). We ripped it apart, got a new lower intake and installed! This fixed the issue. On the TB sticking issue, you have your set screw out TOO much...screw it in tighter a lil more and this will resolve the sticking (the butterfly is bigger than the I.D. of the TB, so if it is flush it will stick...tighten it half turn or more, depending on how loose it is). That will solve that problem.
As for your rev issue, if you did not replace the valley cover bolts, you may have cracked the lower intake (I did this myself), or there could be a vacuum leak somewhere.
If all else fails, a tune may be just what you need! But be careful, a $500 tune may turn into a $2,000 repair! LOL!
Hope this helps bro!
Lemme know, keep me informed!

The valley cover bolts are the 10 that sit under the lower intake (the intake sits on these)...You have to replace those with the button head bolts that FAST sent you in the kit before installing the intake...I did not know this and blew out the lower portion of the intake. My car was running WAY off (she would stay at 2000-2500RPM at idle), major vacuum leak!

look at your valley cover bolts, if they stick up they are not the right ones. The ones you need look like a button on top very low profile and rounded and should have an allen key hole. Easiest one to see is the passenger side front corner.
