Default Wondering about Goats?

What stock rear ends do the LS1 and LS2 GTO's have? I have been looking for LS1 Trans Ams/Camaros for the last couple weeks to buy, and think it might be a better idea to get/look for a GTO if I won't need to put $2k-$2.5k for a 9" rear in the future because the power numbers I am looking for in an M6 the stock rear I know won't hold in the f-bodies. Thanks ahead for the help!

I'm not totally sure about the 04 goats, but the 05 up goats have an IRS rear in them.

GTO's come with the independent rear suspension, you will still have to upgrade parts, such as CV shafts, axle stubs, diff cover, mounts, bushings, etc....and good luck stuffing big rubber on the GTO's, without some work.

my opinion, go with the F body---Strange S60 or Moser 12 bolt would be my choices.

just for reference:

GTO diff cover, bushings, CV shafts and axle stubs are over $2000

Yeah, looks like the f-bodies are a better choice then. Also just found out the GTO, LS1 vs LS1 weigh almost 400lbs more stock for stock. That's insane weight to make up. Thanks guys for the help again.
