Default Air Pump - Is it Necessary????

I just installed some LT headers on my car and I think I'm getting a leak through my Air pump connection. The car is not backfiring, but my wideband is not as stable as it used to be before the new install. Is it really necessary I have the Air pump connected?? What unwanted effects will I see if I remove it?? Any other ideas on what is causing my Wideband unstable? I did calibrate it and checked my header bolts for tightness. Thanks in advance!!

it is extremely necessary. if it did not come that way from the factory i would have needed a different place to mount my siren when i threw the air **** in the trash. any exhaust leak before the narrow and wideband can cause improper readings. if you get rid of the air it will be easier to change plugs in the future.

It isn't necessary from a performance stand point but emissions wise it would be. You will have to get the A.I.R. system tuned out after you remove it or you will get an SES light.

a siren for the alarm. with my vehicle being dropped, it would be a pita to get to it to disconnect it.

Thanks for the replies!! I will try and remove it and see what happens. Should I leave the flex hoses dangling, or should I remove the entire air pump unit and all hose???

get rid of all of it. the hose just runs behind the intake and has one clamp to hold it. will come right out.
