Default CC exhaust inserts?

i ran across these today and they seem to be a good idea. i used the seach button and found some pretty good info. however i have a unique exhaust setup. i have mac mid lengths going into a offroad Y and that is it. it is a H/C car so it is very loud as you can guess. i have not a lick of mufflers or cats. the car actually sounds good its just to flippin loud. i was wanting to know if i could just stick a single 3" CC insert in the end of the y pipe and quiet it down some? also how much power will i lose? i dont have the money for the catback and mufflers. not to mention that they will add 50 pounds. i just want it a little quietier without loseing a ton of power. LMK what you guys think, thanks

Are you talking about the inserts by Car Chemestry? If you are, my dad just got them for his car. Ive seen them, and they dont look restricting at all. I dont think they will quiet the exhaust down much. They should be installed in a week or so. I will let you know how they sound.

Well the "testimonials" say "no power loss" so....seems like your gonna have to be the judge of whether it works or not. I would assume that they do cut down on the sound just looking at the product.

If you want to quiet it down go with the dynatech cone inserts. The CC inserts rob alot of power.

just pickup a single muffler like a Classic chambered short power stick or a 12" long circle track muffler for $30 and clamp it to the y pipe. That will quiet it down a little. actually what I'd do is cut the Y pipe and put 1 muffler on each collector with turndowns and dump the Y pipe. It would sound better like that imo.

Looks like they would rattle inside like a dual wall pipe...I know Summit sells their own brand of mufflers pretty cheap too. Or you could weld on some turndowns, they will quiet them down a little bit...
