Default PCV Valve Help!

My friends car started burning about 2 quarts of oil every oil change or so! We thought it might be the PCV valve is bad and thought about replacing it. Others have told us nothing is wrong, its just high mileage and rings are worn out etc. Its 140,000 mile B4C car. What do u think? Opinions welcome and where is the PCV Valve and how easy is it to replace?

Do a compression test/leakdown check you will know if the bottom end is worn.

PCV is located on the left side on the intake manifold by the throttle body. Its in the rubber tune. Takes about 1 minute to swap out.

If it was run w/synthetic it's life it should still have rings like new. We see them over 200 plus still good. The PCV valve is inline right off the pas side of the front intake....easy to replace. He might add a good catch can like ours as well.

Its always run dino oil, it was a state police car till about 100k so I think it had the **** beat out of it. I know as a cop and not owning it I would have beat it to death, but it seems like it should still not be burning that much. It always did a little but not this bad and the car always has ran strong. Hes gonna replace the PCV Valve and go from there, thanks guys! Im considering getting a catch can, Im gonna check my intake and see how bad it is, Ill have him do the same. You may here from us...

I'll take pics of the engine internals with 170,000 miles of M1 vs 70,000 miles of dino oil. I expect the rings & cyl bore is wore out.
Good Luck!
