Need help....got busted with duals/dumps
Well I made it all of two days running my x pipe/dual setup with dumps and I got busted by the cops. He gave me 5 days to get it fixed. I took it to my exhaust shop and he can't get anything that isn't scraping the ground. What choices do I have? A catback really isn't an option with my 422 cubes. This is a 3 inch setup. Any ideas are appreciated.

Same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago, except my cop was really cool. He approched the car with his flashlight in hand (was about 11:00pm) and the first words out of his mouth was "what the hell do you have under there" Well after 25 minutes go by, and half a pack of cigerettes (cause im so nervouse) I finally get to close my hood, he wanted me to start it again just so he could here it idle, we shook each others hands, and then we were gone. COOL *** COP. Didn't even give me a warning. Oh, by the way, he pulled me over because he clocked me doing 61MPH in a 45MPH zone!!

A freind of mine is running a 422 with a Magnaflow catback and it sounds and runs great. 500 RWHP no problems. Why isn't it an option for you?

If you are running bullets the maybe you should look into some Spintech mufflers. Thats what I run on my duals and they dont scrape. Your muffler shop is gonna have to be more creative lol.

I just got my true duals on yesterday and have asked the question myself how can the cops get on me since i have both cats, and 2 mufflers?? to me if it'll pass for an inspection sticker it should pass for just driving around town.. i don't know how he could have given you a ticket....

In Pennsylvania the exhaust has to exit the vehicle. I don't want a catback for two reasons...one it's alot heavier then a dual setup and two it doesn't flow as well. I may try some quieter mufflers and try to squeak past the cops. I may stick a set of fake tips out back or try to relocate my panhard and go over the axle.

Re: Need help....got busted with duals/dumps
what do u mean by "weight reasons"?? a single 4" pipe will weigh less the TWO 3" pipes... plus u will have only 1 muffler instead of 2...

Re: Need help....got busted with duals/dumps
The muffler on a catback is very heavy in comparison to what I have now. I can't remember exactly but I lost right around 34lbs when I changed from my borla to duals.
