Default How good are....

The Penzoil Platinum or Valvoline Syntec full synthetic oil products? I have been running RP since i purchased my ride but i've heard this oil isnt good because it is a race oil and not really designed for daily use. Is there any truth to this?

I have been using Mobile 1 synthetic products for the past few years and have been very happy with the results and how the car has ran, so no complaints for me.

LT-1Dan Are you saying the RP is one of the best or the Penz and Valvoline?

The penzoil platinum is an awesome oil. If you search you will find some tests that were done on it.

I've heard RP is a god oil as long as you don't use it for long intervals. I used to use amsoil in my 346, but i'm jusdt using plain conventioanl in the new motor for now. once I'm done breaking it in i'll most likely go back to amsoil

I looked into getting Amsoil, but at $12/quart it's up there. I'm not a fan of Mobil 1 either and can't get the 'good' Castrol Syntec anywhere near me, so I'm looking for something as well that is pretty good that I can get at an Autozone or Pepboys.

I use Penzoil High-Mileage 10w-30; my baby has 88K miles on her. It helped with the pistion-slap oil consumption issue a little and it makes me feel better b/c i want to condition my seals the best i can to get the most out of my motor before i have to rebuild it.

i just picked up 12 liters of the good castrol, 86 bucks . It was on sale. Hey B, i think the ws6 store sells the castrol stuff by the cases if you wanted to go that route.

I would highly suggest the German Castrol. It's a great oil. Here's a link to an analysis done on it in an LS1. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/280043-newest-feb-22-oil-analysis-my-c5-using-german-castrol.html

I hear great things about German Castrol.

I have always ran RP and I sent for an oil analysis kit about two weeks ago. I should have results on it in about 2 weeks and I will post up and let you guys know how it did.

Wow that's alittle rediculous. I get it for 7.50/qt at Allied.
