Default SLP Dual Dual vs. aftermarket; flow/hp difference

I currently have the SLP CME package and was wondering how the muffler (I believe its the same as one in the dual-dual package) compares to aftermarket in terms of flow and affect on horsepower. I like the quieter sound and deep tone it has now, but would there be much of a gain to swap just the muffler out? -since the rest is already 3 in stainless from the y back. I just dont want it to be loud like LM or anything, but I just hope the stock muffler isnt limiting my power. Any thoughts would be great.

The general consensus about the Dual/Dual is that it will outflow if not keep pace with the best aftermarket mufflers. SLP really did a great job designing this piece. I have it along with LT's and catted-Y on my SS and love it.

I believe there have abeen a couple dyno tests with this muffler vs. a cutout. The increase was VERY minimal when the cutout was opened, which shows that the dual/dual actually flow VERY well.

I love my Dual/Dual.

I would do a cutout if you want to gain the minuscule amount the Dual/Dual loses compared to any other setup.

I'd keep what you have. That muffler flows well. The only thing you'd increase is sound.

Appearently they dont sell the dual dual anymore? It isn't on their website as a package. Just bits and pieces in a clearance.

No, they dont sell dual-dual or CME anymore which sucks, they were great exhaust systems. Just have to watch for a used one for sale. Makes me glad mine came with one, I'm going to hang on to it.

That's wierd. Mine has a seperate section that you can unbolt right before it goes over the axle.

How much you looking for and where are you located?

I just bought a brand new Dual/Dual . No dyno numbers but it certainly feels just as stout as my duals did. The quietness took some getting used to, but it sounds great and there's always the cutout when I want loud again.

Actually, i don't have the complete dual/dual system. I installed the Dual/Dual muffler and kept the stock system and i gained 10rwhp/10rwtq when i opened the cutout on the dyno, back to back runs. It is probably due to the smaller piping size maybe, but thats only a 1/4 inch

Since many claim that 2.75 single pipe is lossless at only about 300BHP and that the 3in is lossless at 360BHP that could account for a good portion of the difference.

no complaints about my dual/dual here. it's quiet ar rpms below 3k (which is good cause i can avoid waking the whole neighboorhood coming home late at night, but after 3k the thing screams. a set of lt's should make a huge difference too with this setup.
