Thumbs up BBK SSI Intake w/ 85mm TB

I just finish installing my new BBK SSI LS6 Intake Manifold and Professional Products 85mm throttle body. Not only does this intake look great, but it performs great as well, given that any intake manifold is better than the stock 97-00 LS1 manifold. Anyways, i havent had my car dyno'd but i can definitely feel the power/torque gain. I know its not as good as a FAST or as big (92mm), but for the price, its a good bang for your buck. I got this intake for $400.00 from New Era and the throttle body goes for 185.00 from Byunspeed. So for 585.00 you can get yourself a very nice 85/85 combo, OR for more than double the price you can get a 92/92 combo. But I myself admit that if money wasn't an issue, i would get the FAST, but for you guys wanting a good budget combo, this is pretty good.

According to a corvette website, after they installed the BBK SSI intake and matching 85mm throttle body, the peak numbers jumped from 462 hp and 436 lb-ft of torque, to 489 hp and 450 lb-ft, for gains of 27 hp and 14 lb-ft and the BBK intake suffered no loss in power at any rpm compared with the stock LS1 unit

Looks very nice man. I may have to look into one of these, as I'm still shopping intakes. I'm wanting to install a new intake when I do my headers/ORY/catback in the coming weeks (might as well, while I'm in there). Any tricks to the install on this, or is it pretty straight-forward?

Any problems with that Pro. Products throttle body? I know a few Mustang guys who had them and they had idling problems.

Im not sure. This intake probably makes a little bit more power than the stock ls6 manifold (but your also paying for looks as well.) A stock ported TB is a good bang for you buck as well, New Era will port it for 75.00. However, because this intake has a 85mm opening, if you use a matching 85mm throttle body, the mouth opening is also larger which allows for more air, more air gives you more power.
