Home made ram air duct pics!
Well, I'm happy with the scoop but i'll probably fab up an extenstion to bring it all the way to the radiator support. I'm certainly NOT happy with the filter box sealing. The top sheet I fab'd doesnt fit well on the the scoop throat and the fliter box seals like ****. gonna try to redo that part this weekend. My weekend is already screwed so I dont know if it'll happen. Here are some pics of the scoop before install.

Thanks, It really isn't that hard. It took about 3 hours to fab up the duct. The square piece is the one Im not too happy with. It was a PITA. That incision on the left side is becasue i wasnt patient enough to recharged the drill to make a starting slit for the sheet metal snips to go into. That piece fits and seals like butt. it pulls through the 80-100 zone a little quicker now. The rest of the band is unaffected. MPG is being monitored. too early to tell.

engine temps havent changed either. I managed to have a gap between the a/c rad and scoop. If anybody has an idea for the square piece that sits under the air lid box chime in please. I have some thoughts on how to correct this but I'll wait for another view.

Cool! you found it! That's it. Couldn't rememeber the site offhand.I found that link in another thread and couldnt resist.
It didn't include anything for the filter box so i took a swing at it. This weekend was shot from the get-go so I still havent corrected it yet.

This new top piece your suggesting, how did you secure it to the 7/8 open end of the duct? Can you send me (or post) some pics of yours? Im lost on this last part. Thanks for help.

hmm let me see if i can find some pictures for you...just flange it out like a tab and pop rivet it...
here you go bud hope this helps some...the sides where it connects to the thicker top plate are just flush and then caulked but the fronts and rears are tapped about 1/2" so you can rivet it...if you still cant get the idea i can take a picture of my buddies car i put it on for you sometime later...

Oh yeah... the top view pic deff. answered my question. Thanks. My top plate goes all the way forward to the slit in the front of the air box. I guess there really is no need to bring it out that far. i'll give it another shot next weekend. I hope the filter housing warpage isnt permenant. Thanks!
