Default Just smoothed (ported?) my throttle body...25 min job REALLY worth 3-5 whp???

I'm a dental technician by trade and have some pretty elaborate tools that lend themselves quite nicely to porting. (I have NEVER owned a 2 stroke that I haven't at least cleaned up the ports on!!! lol!)

Anyway--- I bought a TB here and just followed my fingers.

First I plugged the holes to keep some of the shavings out of where they don't need to be.
Next I Just smoothed the radiuses all around 'till they felt uniform (This removed the lip in the process)

Thoroughly cleaned the unit with carb cleaner and compressed air (7 TIMES!!!)
as i elected NOT to remove the blade for fear one day a screw may loosen after being re-installed WITH 242 Loctite and get sucked into my motor.

All done in less than 1/2 hour and ready to swap out tomorrow morning!

I have a big race with my little brother and his newly acquired 2005 stock runflat tired 6 speed Manual Corvette.(He's got the 3.42 gear and no options.)

Will this tb smoothing REALLY make any difference???

I need ALL the help I can get!!!

My car is a 2000 M6 Camaro loaded up and HEAVY. It went 382 WHP through the original catback and I have shitty tires also.

Did I find a couple WHP with the TB????

I felt more pick up and go with my p/P tb, than I did with the lid and ssra combined. I spent 2.5 hours on my tb, finishing it off by hand, she looks like chrome now

I might have noticed a little bit of power with the P/P, but where I gained was while having the TB off, I noticed the blade wasn't opening all the way and fixed that in the process also. Definite difference now...............

If you finished it in 25 minutes you probably did nothing, sorry. Smoothing it out is worth nothing. I tell you what. Post up a pic and I will tell you what the mod was worth.

I dont know, that looks pretty good. You said you smoothed it. I thought you just smoothed the finish. It looks like most all of the key material has been removed.

Default Porting....

I guess my definition is different but I've seen the light!

I didn't want to remove the blade or shaft to skinny them up for fear of the screws loosening at a later date! I'll take the sacrifice.

I did remove a good amount of material on the stop to get the blade fully perpindicular to the TB opening at WOT.

Thanks for coming back to check it out!

It looks like a good job for only taking 30 minutes. I'd work on the blade and shortening the bolts.

It can stand to loose a bit more material. Also recommend to half the throttle shaft, shorten screws etc. Blue loctite on the screws will keep those suckers on there. It's been well over a year and a half on mine and the loctite's held. Just let it cure properly. Knife edging the blade is also worth it.

As for a tune, the stock tune is usually a bit rich and can take having a bit more air added into the mix. A tune for a ported throttle body is pretty worthless.

cool so i'll just throw it on there lol. i don't have a lid either... it's just my buddy said he'd sell me his ported tb off his 98 or 99 i forget... and from what i hear the 98 and 99s are more desireable for my 01? So though it is a little rich, i will gain a few hp for this...?

what other work do you have to make 382 rwhp? there is no way that is your RWHP if it is stock.
