you might have issue's with the waterpump? i know a 6.0 waterpump outlet was in the way for a cable TB. im not sure about the 5.3 but i assume the trucks have the same acc drives on all of them..... not sure if the fly by wire tb will clear it or not. maybe some truck guys can chime in here..........

you have two options:
1. swap over all of the accessories for an fbody.
2. take an ls1 water pump and swap a truck pulley on to it.
search over at performancetrucks.net for a more detailed setup.

only down low where trucks need it, when you hit the upper rpms you need an ls6 intake.

An LS6 intake will bolt right onto a 5.3, but... your throttle body on an LS6 intake manifold on a truck motor will interfere with the water pump neck and the belt idler pulley next to the alternator. Also, the TB air inlet will be too close to the fan and shroud to allow an intake tube to clear.

I've been researching this pretty heavily as I plan to do it in the next few months but its not a bolt on and go deal at all. It depends on if you are cable or DBW but an 07+ 5.3 water pump or an L92 will clear the cable tb just barely. You need to make a bracket if you plan to reuse your stock rails and some modifications to your injectors. Then theres the whole idler pulley relocation. Speartech made one and so does another place. You'll have to trim you alternator bracket too to clear the TB. Then you'll need a custom throttle cable bracket. Some other little things will need to be adjusted but I can't say I know all of them right now. From what I've read, The LS6 manifolds are pretty close to the same flow as the truck manifold until about 5K then they keep building to 6500ish where as the truck intake takes a dive. All in all the gains would be nice on a full bolton heads cam motor but for a close to stock 5.3 they will be minimal. I hope this helps. I'm not claiming to know everything about the swap as I've never done it but, the basic mods are listed.

For the drivers that you do out run, the looks on their faces is priceless when you blow by them in a pickup truck. I'd say go for it if you plan to really build the motor, otherwise the spray should be pretty rewarding.

yea thats wat i am after my 04 ext z71 i had last year it was quick and all i had was cold air intake 180 * stat and a nelson computer and i had it high 15s which i thought was decent for wat i had. cause i mean if i had a 5400/ 5600 pd 4wd truck blowing my doors away id **** a brick also lol. but plans are pacesetter, lts ,cam ,finishline level 4 trans, bigger stall and prolly ported heads and bigger intake and tb.... only thing that has been quick around here with trucks and suvs was my buddies ss trailblazer and with my old truck he would kill me off the line and then from a 65 punch too 105 i blew his doors off and then he come back.

I wonder if I could use a 3" throttle body spacer to get the clearance I need using the LS6 intake with the truck water pump neck since I have a DBW throttle body?

I know there isn't any performance gain to be had with the TB spacers, but I can have the spacer machined for less than $50 and save myself the money of having to buy a F-body water pump.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks!!

I was thinking the same thing. I plan on deleting the fan and running Efan in my 01 5.3 This should leave enough room for a spacer to clear the water pump.
