Yes...leave the PCM in the car, they are not compatible whatsoever with each other and 99+ is better anyways. Use the fuel injectors and coolant temp sensor (driver side head) off of the '99 motor, and you will be good to go. Every other sensor and plug is the exact same.
98 coolant temp sensor is an odd-ball 3-wire one, all 99+ use a 2-wire.
The 98 fuel injectors are larger than the '99 fuel injectors, and the computer will dump too much fuel if you use the '98 injectors with the stock '99 PCM...so use the '99 injectors on the '98 motor.

OK i am doing a similar thing also but i am putting a 99 ls1 Engine into my 98,And reusing my 98 pcm, will that work.I know the 98s are not the best pcm compared to others.

Yes, I put a '99 motor in my '98 the first time around. Reverse of above.
Use the '98 injectors and coolant temp sensor off your current motor, and everything else will plug in and work perfect.
And you have to keep the '98 computer unless you want to do lots of re-wiring.

ya i will def be using my bigger injectors and working Temp sensor,I was just curious if everything else worked in conjunction together.But no wiring for time being i may upgrade to the better pcm when my power goal is a little higher.Thanks the quick answer man
