Stupid Spark Plug Wire Removal Question
Ok..so I have owned 6 LS1 cars and none's ever had enough miles to need a spark plug change...until now. I just bought a higher mile (120,000) 98 TA for the wife to drive and want to change the plugs and wires on it.
SO my simple question before I get started is does the little heat sheilds at the spark plug boot come off with the wires or does it stay on some how? If it stays how do you get it off. I thinking it should pull off with the wires but I just want to be sure. Also when I go back with MSD wires those sheilds are not used..right?
Thanks.

The heat shields slide up and down but come off as stated with the plug wires . I did not use the heat shieds on my MSD wires as I have read of the stock heat shields will burn into MSD wires over time .
BTW you might want to take the passenger side coil pack off to help make room to get to the last plug .

I can't imagine it'd be absolutely necessary to reuse them but what is the harm in using them? I did a search and plenty of people reused them and have had no problems, either way i think will work.
