driver side exhaust manifold

Default driver side exhaust manifold

im am in the middle of my header swap, and i am having a tough time trying to get the driver side exhaust manifold out, i can't get to the bolts above the cat to seperate the two, i know this is my problem but those bolts will not budge whatsoever. ANy tips on how to get this thing out?

i just did my headers this weekend and those bolts were hard..I just put a bar on the end of my wrench and forced them..2 of the bolts broke off but it didnt matter because the cat still came off

so you suggest to just try and knock them off? sounds better than anything ive tried so far, those bolts are damn hard to get to as well, its pissing me off and really slowing down the process

How high can you get your car? If you can get it high enough, you can remove it all as one piece.

its high enough to remove as one piece, but it just wont come through the bottom

i dont understand how you would be able to get it vertical, the cat would not allow for it to happen, atleast in my own experience

It was a while back now... but I used my 1/2" drive 18" craftsman breaker bar on the bolts that were frozen. Made a few trips for 1/2" extensions and sockets when I muscled the old exhaust off. Of course spray penetrant helps but a lot of the studs & bolts just broke off.

Finally i got it out, it took only 3 minutes, i really wasnt even doing anything and it pretty much just fell out, lol what a pain in the ***, but im happy its out.

it will if you remove those two bolts that hold onthat elbow thing near the oil filter
