3" True duals louder than 2.5"? H-pipe?
I am going to be running it under the axle to tips out the back.
Well I have already ordered a 2.5" X-pipe and 2.5" Flowmaster single chambers... but I want my car to be loud as hell. But I am wondering how much louder 3 inch would be over 2.5"...also if X or H pipe would be louder. I've also read about H-pipes sounding better and giving more of that old school "big block" sound.
So Im considering sending the x and 2.5" flows back and ordering 3" flows and 3" H-pipe. I am not going to be looking at huge hp numbers in the future so that is not a factor. I also *might* consider lowering 1-1.5" in the future. So what do y'all think? I want it to scare the **** out of people.
PS: I'm also going to be running long tubes...

...no one's changing my mind on the flows. I like the sound of them. I'm just asking if 3" will be much louder than 2.5", and about the H pipe...not suggestions on other brand exhausts.

Yes. I went from 2.5" to 3" and it is noticably louder. However, mine is exccentuated due to the cam. I would not recommend my exhaust setup for a DD driven car. It is too loud to be driven everyday IMO. When I get the chance i will pick up a DD and use it as a weekend car.
Bottom Line: The 2.5" w/ LTs and X pipe will be EXTREMELLY loud. You should consider running it under the axle to reduce cabin noise. The bullets make for a good setup, but the car will be ******* loud. Also, if you are considering lowering the car I would strongly suggest the 2.5". My 3" has some clearence issues, and my car is at stock ride height.

If you plan on lowering, 2.5" will be your best bet.
I daily drive my car w/ 3" Flowmaster td's and have no clearance issuses. It's loud and very deep. I get a lot of compliments on it every time I drive it. People ask all the time if its got a big block in it! I love it! I included pics of what I used for a crossover. Its kinda a cross between a "h" and "x"

^^^I love the Flowmaster D-port H-pipe. If I ever go true duals, which I REALLY want to, I want to get that crossover with single chambers Too bad Flowmaster increased the price of single chambers by over $20 EACH and raised the price on the D-port a lot, too!

believe it or not, that D-port crossover changed the sound a lot. I already had a 3" x-pipe setup with the same mufflers I have now, and switching to the D-port crossover made it sound deeper.

Yeah, I know I noticed that too when I was looking up parts the other day. I got lucky and got in before the price increase. The mufflers were $72ea. and the crossover kit was like $150.

Wait until you get a somewhat aggressive cam and you might change your opinion.
When i just had this setup without a cam it was not too loud at all but the cam really made it LOUD!

I came across them the other day on Summit and the mufflers were like $95 a pop and the D-port crossover was like $220. I was like HOLY CRAP It wouldn't be so bad if Flowmaster would make something in STAINLESS!!! All that money for mass produced aluminized steel pipe
No, not yet, I'm working on it though. When I get one I will definately post it up!
You will definately love the sound of the 3" single chambers if you decide to go that route. As a matter of fact, do a search for jmm98ls1. He has some clips of his td's with 2.5" single chambers on his car. We actually have the same cam.
Here, I found it, see if the link works https://ls1tech.com/forums/member.php?u=35625
