Default Professional Products Typhoon Intake = JUNK!!!! and ebay headers

Me and a friend of mine just did a heads can install and he already had one of these intakes on the car! We both hate it! It super heavy hunk of junk! I would say its a easy 40+lbs! We hate the gaskets and you can tell by the design it doesn't flow that great and it will hold alot of heat!!!! I would take a stock ls6 any day over this! We put it on PRC 5.3 stage 2.5 heads and Ms3 cam. We also installed those ebay stainless headers and they are junk too stainless headers with Emission tubes and cats and they SUCK fit like crap. Passenger side was basicly touching the floor board and the driver side was a bit*h to get in and hits steering arm worse headers i have ever installed!

opinions opinions....ive installed several pp intakes and throttle bodies dont see how you could call them junk....a little work with a die grinder and they flow really well....if your complaint is the manifold being too heavy...maybe you and your buddy need to lift some weights....

the gaskets suck and are known to leak and hold a ton of heat! Went around the bolt and the intake was so hot it would burn you hand Heat = less hp, less efficient and less mpg. LOL plus the added weight

Not to be a smart ***, but did any of you research any of this before you or your friend dropped a bunch of coin on the parts?

Everybody I know that runs one of these manifolds, run NOS. And they use them because the stock and aftermarket plastic/nylon 66 blow all to hell if it backfires.

As far as head & cam i told him what to get and where to get them TSP and is a great setup. The headers and intake he got without me knowing and i dont care for either of them he just likes the way the intake looks If some one was using N20 it would help cool the intake but for DD use it will get hot and heat soak and loose MPG & HP. As far a n20 back fires if you know what you doing you dont have to worry about backfires Set it up right and your good to go. at least a vic jr is spaced out so it can cool off

whoa wait a minute

You said ebay headers with cats. Are you talking about the ones with the catted y pipe that bolts to the headers by flange? The headers with the short collectors? If so, those are not the eones I was going to buy.

I hope this is ok. I did not link to a sale. If this is breaking rules please dont ban my ***.

Are these the ones?

i really liked the deal and the look of these until i installed them. Yes those and i wouldnt call them cats more like a small resonator. LOL but if you somewhere you have inspections it will fool them Its a small y-pipe too! just under 2.5"

I would just spend the extra $ and get these headers They are made by SSautochrome they are stainless steel with 3" y-pipe. Some people call them XS headers. Fit just as nice as pacesetter. PM black2002ws6

I've got the "SS Autochrome" headers and have no complaints. The only original complaint was that the driverside collector tapped the floorboard on cold starts but went away after the car warmed up some. That was nothing a prybar couldn't fix though.

As much as people hate to hear it, you really do get what you pay for with mods like these. There are a LOT of nutswingers on this board that hang all over the cheap **** and try to sell it like it was the best thing in the world...why? To spread the misery? I have no clue...

The pp manifold's are ok for diff combos. A bit of work and they are fine. has anyone one done a back to back test to see just how much heat soak drops hp??

Cough it up as a lesson learned. The next build should be better.

Many of the cheap ebay stainless headers are the XS headers made by SSautochrome. The sponsor here who used to sell them changed the design and now only sells the LPP headers.
