Default What headers for a 99 Z28 without EGR?

I have a 99 Z28 that I put an LS6 intake manifold on so it doesn't have EGR, but I left A.I.R. intact. My question is: When buying headers, Can I buy the 01-02 headers since I don't have EGR, or are the A.I.R. pipes located on a different part of the header for those years? I'm trying to not use block off plates so I hope 01-02 headers have the A.I.R. pipes in the same location. Btw, I'm looking at hooker stainless steel headers.

Why not remove your air tubes all together and eliminate the problem? If you're going to run an ORY pipe, there is absolutely no point in having an AIR pump anymore. An air pump's function is to pump clean air back into the exhaust so the car can pass emissions, which will be null and void if you run an ORY making the air pump useless.

It's very easy to remove the pipes, and cleans up the engine bay a lot. If you're worried about the SES light, you can leave the pump attached and plugged up until you can get it tuned out. You can purchase "race style" headers that don't have any of the emissions provisions. Cleans up the engine bay nicely.

If the 01-02 still have A.I.R. is it located in the same spot as the earlier year headers so I can use my A.I.R. system?

I found out that the A.I.R. tubes are in a different location, but the question still remains whether I can still use my air system or not? I think I'm just going to remove air out of the car and get the 01-02 headers and get some black off plates.

I think with the air tubes, if you need to move them around you can because they are connected to rubber tubing.

Why do you have to keep your AIR? If you're removing your egr then why not go ahead and pull it out with it.

EGR was removed when I did the Ls6 intake swap a few weeks ago. I plan on running a catted y-pipe and don't mind if I have to keep air. The stainless steel headers I were looking at only come in the emission style and I really don't want to use block off plates. If I get the stainless steel headers made for the 01-02 cars, I wouldn't need block off plates because I could use my A.I.R. I'm looking at either hooker or pacesetter headers because I already have a y-pipe that will work with those two brands. I want stainless steel headers because of where I live so I am left with Hooker headers.

y not get qtp headers for your model year w/ emisions fittings and use an egr block off plate for the header. that way atleast the air fitting is in correct location.

Bump for this. I'm in the same situation as NJNets Fan. Anyone know if the AIR is in a different location on the headers of an 01-02 than it is on a 98-99?

Thanks!

I wouldn't trust using block off plates on Hooker Headers, they have a tendency to blow the emissions tubes off the header pipe. I learned the hard way! if it's your only option ...all I can say is good luck, I hope it doesn't happen to you.

Default lpp headers

i just installed a set of stainless lpp and they go in NICE. me and a friend did them in 3 hours and we were drinkin as much as wrenching. i got race set with no emissions stuff except 02 sensors. u really should look at these headers they slid right up into place, no fighting at all. i didnt remove steering shaft or anything. clearances are great. i have headers into stainless lpp ory with slp loudmouth. i ordered friday night at 11pm on a holiday weekend with regular shipping. they were here thursday and on the car friday.

Wow, my thread is still alive. Anyway I went with the Hooker's because I was tired of waiting for LPP's header's to come out. I can't say how happy I am with the hookers and they even came with a nice block off plate for EGR! Hooker's dumdumdum.
