Default Need some advice on making my car a bit more quiet

My car is VERY loud. I get hassled by the Cops all the time it seems (eventhough the ricers and guys on bikes never seem to be pulled over ). I currently have pacesetter LT headers, ORY, Borla catback (even with the block off plate in, its still stupid loud) along with a 231/237 cam. I realize that with the mods its going to make the car quite a bit louder and this cannot be helped, but I have heard that Borla is one of the louder catbacks out there. A friend suggested a magnaflow catback, another suggested Hooker, but i have seen it on his car and i dont care for the tips and its not stainless. What would you guys suggest for me?

If you want to spend a little go with Borla XR-1 Round Sportsman Racing Muffler will tame it down and match the rest of the system.

I like my hooker exaust. Its nice and quite until I open the DMH cutout. With the cutout closed the car doesn't even sound like its got a MS4 in it. I bought 2-304 stainless steel rectangular tips from Fast Toys. They weren't much more than a $100 for both.

I'll probably get flamed but i would actually put on a set of high flow cats to remove the rasp and might drop the db's alittle. That with another muffler is the direction i would go.

i had a hooker on my stock 02 z28 and now i have a cammed 99 ss with full bolt ons and it is a little louder. i would say go with a magnaflow, its ss and quiet. but the hooker is cheap for just the muffler so i guess you cant go wrong with either.

I've had both. My Magnaflow with my cam is quieter than my Borla (closed plate) was with the stock cam. I did like the way the Borla sounded a little better though.

i think a magnaflow would be best for ya bro. I have a buddy with an LS1 that had a Magnaflow muffler on his, given his wasnt cammed nor did it have LTs and o/r Y, but it sounded mean. I liked it. It wasnt loud at all, but whne he floored it itd scream pretty nice. Hope that helps bro

Hooker with a CME gets my vote. Sounds bad *** at WOT. Its still pretty quiet in the low rpms. I have cats though so that helps.

Put a turbo on it! Most powerful exhaust upgrade I've seen yet and will quiet things down a bit too.

I had to put a bullet muffler in the i pipe to settle my magnaflow down after heads and cam . Stock it was ok , not after I did the motor.

I agree! I have tried them all.

Super Turbo is the best at quieting the exhaust down and still sounds good.
