Best Sounding Muffler
I have officially determined that a Corsa is way out of my price range, so I am going to go with a muffler and some tips. However, I dont know what muffler to get. I want one that is deep and gurgly, but sounds good up high too. I heard the spintech sounded good, but I am worried about its power robbing properties. I am not really looking to gain hp's, but I don't want to loose any. Any advice would be helpful. I am currently completely stock.

Re: Best Sounding Muffler
SLP LM with gutted cats and its still not loud enough for me. I actually get alot of compliments on how loud and mean it sounds. From what I've read it's the next best thing to True Duals.

Get the dynomouth. You will not regret it one bit and here is why:
The stock pipes are 2.75" mandrell pressed stainless steel. It's not a huge gain going to 3" with a full catback. If you want to keep your cats then you buy a 12" dynomax bullet race muffler. If you ditch your cats then get the 18" dynomax bullet race muffler. They cost $36 brand new. Then buy yourself a nice set of stainless steel tips. I got an awesome looking set of dual/dual tips for $85 from fasttoys.net.
Take the tips and the bullet race muffler to an exhaust shop. Tell them to cut out the stock muffler and fab a pipe in it's place to keep the dual out continuity. Then tell them to weld the bullet muffler in the I-pipe just behind the rear axel. This cost me $100.00 for parts/labor.
When they are done you have a muffler that flows 2200 cmf vs the old stock muffler that flows somewhere around 300 cmf. Besides the HP gains you will smile from ear to ear when you start that car. Deep and mean at idle and it screams at WOT. If you accelerate easy it'll be just quiet enough to keep the cops from taking notice but trust me when I say you don't wanna go WOT if a cop is around. It sounds like an Indy 500 just started.
Very minimal backfires and little to no drone at cruising speeds. So far it's been the best mod I've done.
dynomax bullet muffler $50 (with shipping)
pair of SS tips $100 (with shipping)
Installation $100 (total)
So $250.00 start to finish and I have a new look via tips and lack of bulky muffler, more HP via better flow and an absolute mean muscle sound that won't get me tickets if used wisely.
Good luck with whatever you buy

Do the Dynomouth.
Mine was 140 with parts and professional install.
Page 2 of my site has some info on this exhaust.
Good luck

Re: Best Sounding Muffler
Don't expect any catback to increase power much - maybe 2 or 3 hp.

Holy Cow! How loud is that thing gonna be...it looks like a hollow pipe? What about the Regular "Race Muffler"? How loud is that?

It's not is loud as you think. The bullet muffler is not completely hollow (see ratio411 website for internal picture). The cats on your car keep the sound within a reasonable decibal. If you keep the cats then you will absolutely love the sound! Deep at idle, reasonable at normal acceleration but absolutely wickid at WOT. Trust me man it'll be worth it and you can easily carry on a conversation/listen to radio without annoying drone.
If you end up ditching your cats then it'll be louder for sure. Then get the 18" bullet instead of the 12" and it should be fine.
Just do it. You'll be sooooooo happy you did.

Ok, it can be made for the dual outlet exhaust right? This sounds good Darren, I am trusting you on this one.
