Why dyno need dyno tune after headers install?
I was wondering, Why do you need a dyno tune after headers are installed is it needed are can I do the tune with a hand held programmer?

Your AFR may be off more than the pcm can correct on it's own is usually why. But to get the most power out of it you need to also lean it out from where the factory has it set for PE mode, and adjust the timing. Doesn't have to be done on a dyno though.

you dont need a tune with longtubes...you arent going to mess anything up without a tune...if i were you i would wait until i got a little more mods under my belt before i went for the tune...if you plan on a cam do it then..and if you just plan for full boltons do it when you are dont with the boltons....no reason to spend all the money and then add something that throws the tune off ya know?.....as for the shorties....what year is your car...if it is 2000 and up (correct me if im wrong) they had redesigned manifolds that are basically shorty headers...so you would gain almost nothing with that..stick with the longtubes (or mac mids) and a catted Y...you will gain the power and still stay relatively quiet...
