Default guys who have modified the collectors on macs

what exactly did you do, ive heard of people modifying the collectors to accept a 3" ypipe and then using a flowmaster y collector at the end

what exactly to you do to the collector of the headers for the 3" ypipe

pics?

i just had mine modified. i had scavenger collectors welded on to the end of the macs using 2.25" j bends from jegs to fit the body. this made the header similar to a try-y long tube. it is designed for more low to mid range torque. the end of the merge collectors were 3.5" and i got reducer cones to go down to the 3" y-pipe. I didnt use the flowmaster y because the kid who made it made a proper merge at the end of my y-pipe so that it fits exactly inside of my 4" catback. the exhausts form each side of the y meet at the same time and flow into the catback together evenly. i would highly recomend modifying the macs and making a bigger y- pipe because i definetly noticed a difference.

Did mine...I think they turned out well, and worth the effort IMO.

Just cut the ball flanges off...use a short section of 3" pipe welded to the collector...weld the 3 bolt 3" collector flange to the extension and Voila...poor man's LT.

Do the same w/your ORP's/cats, and also the front side of Y-pipe. You now have a quick disconnect setup that you can swap out cats to ORP's in minutes, as well as eliminating 90% of the "MAC rasp". Sounds better(deeper/throatier)also. Not sure of any gains as post dyno was done after that and other mods.

Good luck......

I had this done at my friends midas we cut off the ball flange and welded up a full 3 inch oryp. Even when i still had my borla it got rid of most of my rasp. I took a bunch of pics but then i stayed and had a few and needless to say i forgot my camera and have not had a chance to go back and get it. Once i get the pics i'll post them for ya. Sorry but i don't have any dyno runs after but once i do that i'll post it as well Do it you'll be happy. We also made our own 3 inch merge collector also. Later
