B4C police Camaro alternator
Is anyone using a B4C LS1 alternator? What amperage to these units put out over the stock LS1 F-body alternators, if any? My stock alternator is killing me w/fans running in staging lanes, etc. Will using one of these police hd alternators help? If so, what's the GM part # and what're they selling for $$ ? Thanks. WJ.

Re: B4C police Camaro alternator
I looked in my parts catalog and couldnt locate a alternator for B4C. Im guessing that the stock is RPO K68 which is 105 ampere. Since Ill be running the Meziere Ill be installing a 160 ampere sold by Afterthoughts Auto - Price w/o powdercoating is $210 w/ is $240
Hope this helps

Research I did showed the ls1 did not get a different altenator for the b4c but its hard to tell. You can get an aftermarket alternator that puts out 120-140 amps. I cant remember the name of the company.

I really find it hard to believe that the b4c Camaro does not get a much higher output alternator than stock Camaros. Anyone know what a stock V8 Z28 or SS alternator puts out? Thanks. WJ.

I've read that the B4C has the same alternator that the other F-bodys have. Why? Simply because it was already big enough. That's why hardly anyone ever reports charging problems even when underdriving both the crank and the alternator. Our charging systems are overkill to begin with.
WJ, the only times I've had problems with my charging system at the track is when I've had batteries that weren't quite up to par (like with a small dry cell.) But then, alternators do go bad sometimes.

Re: B4C police Camaro alternator
Thanks Colonel. Maybe my '02 has one of the bad Delco's I've read about. Whenever I've got both fans on w/manual switch, Ammeter is way over on dis-charge side. That would be in lanes, w/out air or any other accessories, like radio, etc. I've got ASP crank pulley only, car idles around 575. W/one fan running, it seems to hold it's own...I'll have to load test battery---only 3600 mi. on car, though.... Thanks everyone. WJ.
