Thumbs up What muffler for my single 3.5'' exhaust?

Im going to go with a 3.5'' single exhaust on my 98' z28 in the next two weeks. I narrowed down the muffler choice to 3. I would like to get some of your opinions on what muffler to go with. I'm leaning towards 1 or maybe even 2 single chamber flowmasters.

Don't forget to vote!

Im for the other "NONE!" Save some weight, but the spintechs are nice too.

through a 1 chamber? or the 80 series? I really doubt it was the 1 chamber you are talking about.

i dont remember which one it was but the last 2 pulls on the dyno were with the cut out open and then closed without changing anything. the motor had cooled for about 30 min before the last two pulls.

He's confusing the 80 series muffler, one of the largest, poorest flowing mufflers they offer, with the single chamber. The single chamber is as little a restriction as possible. Sometimes, people get so caught up in bashing Flowmaster for absolutely no reason, they forget that they make more than one muffler

The 80 series flow suffers because of its odd design thanks to the F-body's stupid muffler placement. Apparently, it's difficult to make a baffled crossflow muffler without packing. Their normal mufflers by and large work just fine for most applications.

I'm running the Mufflex w/ 3.5" straight through Magnaflow muffler...

I love the sound... and performance is equal to open exhaust...

A friend of mine has the 4" Mufflex setup w/ the same Magnaflow... he has a 383 and runs 11.0s with the exhaust, and 11.0s open....

I have a heads/cam/intake LS1 and I'm sure that running open exhaust wouldn't yield any more hp or lower ET than with my 3.5" exhaust connected...

Good luck.

I think a custom 3.5" mufflex style set up with an XR-1 multi-core muffler in the i-pipe would sound good. Only problem, for me at least is that they are damn $$$$.
