Default Which Y-Pipe for Jet Hot LTs

Long time lurker here. This site has so much info. I finally have a question that I could not find a clear answer to. I have the Jet Hot Long Tube headers, the ones based on the Hooker design. They are 1 3/4" and very nice. I bought the Jet Hot Y-pipe with it, the one that comes in a bunch of pieces and I bought the cat inserts to go with it. What a piece of crap. It leaks and just doesn't look like it flows well. It obviously doesn't do the job of reducing the emissions because my SES keeps coming on for O2 sensor bank1 sensor2 and bank2 sensor2. It also hangs down much lower than I thought it would and can scrape if I am not careful. I have the Hooker Cat-Back as well and I like it. Not too loud unless I get on it and no rasp. I installed all of this at the same time.

So...I need something else instead of the crappy Y. I was wondering if anyone knew of a catted Y that would fit my setup and is of good quality. If there isn't anything, I guess I will have to go with a custom Y. Can anyone recommend a good custom exhaust shop in the MD/DC/VA area?

Thanks,

I use the Mufflex ORY. Fits great. I have had zero ground clearance issues. My car is stock ride height. The pipe itself is a beast.

I highly recommend. I have pics if you want to see them.

Ooops..... I did not see that you want a catted Y. You can try the QTP catted Y. Same design as the Mufflex.

Ok....I have been doing some more reading and it seems like most people have fit issues with the QTP. The Kooks Catted Y looks seems like a decent piece, and it is cheaper than the QTP.

Three questions:

1. Will both the QTP and the Kooks Catted Y definitely bolt up to my headers?

2. How much is the Flowmaster style collector worth, as far as power goes? How much better is this collector vs. a ypipe where the drivers side basically joins the passenger side? ex. Kooks

3. I have stock ride height, but I still want the best clearance. What is the clearance difference between the Kooks and the QTP?

Thanks for the help!

I can't yet speak for the fitment issues with the QTP catted Y, but I have one sitting on my workbench and the quality apppears to be spot on.

I'm not reading anything very good about any of these Y-pipes. QTP, TSP or Kooks...it seems like for as many people that have success with them, there are as many or more that have fitment problems, clearance issues, or have to do some cutting or welding to make them fit. I want to be as emissions legal as possible, I need the o2 bungs behind the cats and don't want to have to pay someone to put those in. I just want something that bolts on without modification, doesn't leak, and doesn't hang low. It seems like that is too much to ask.

So....I'm guessing that I will have to go custom. Are there any decent exhaust shops in the DC/MD/VA area? Anyone have any experience with FBody Central in Baltimore?

I am using the Jet Hot set up w/ORP. Fitment is OK for the most part.
I use exhaust wrap where each pipe is joined and then band clamps over that.
Seals very good and last quite a while.

Now what I don't like is where the pipes merge into the I pipe. Very poor design. Mine has been modified to open the hole up to increase the flow because you have a 3" pipe welded to a 2-2 1/2 hole. I will be cutting it up and welding in a new merge pipe.
Not sure on which I'm going with yet but will be doing this soon.

I believe JETHOT also uses Hooker headers with revisions made to them so I would think the Hooker Y would fit as well

Can anyone confirm that the Kooks Catted Y-Pipe will fit the Jet Hot headers?

I took mine to an exhaust shop who added an extension piece on the passenger side to a Hooker ORY. Worked great for me.
