Default Should I switch LM1 to LM2?

Hey guys I have a 2002 Trans Am WS6 A4 with slp lid, slp L/T with cats, slp LM1 cat back. I was told when I drive around it sometimes sounds like tin cans are being dragged behind me, my friends ask if I just got married lol. I was wondering if I switch to an LM2 would it sound better? would there be less rasp, and will it have a deeper tone to it sounding mean? Also in the near future I will be getting a head cam package LS6 stage 3 heads, stage 2 cam, kooks L/T with cats. thanks in advance

Default Lm2

I like my LM2 setup. I had a dynomax bullet before and it had rasp and drone.

ANy straight thru/bullet type muffler will sound raspy. Lm1s are basically tin cans LOL. Its just a bigger exhaust port basically. Its a resonator, not a muffler. The LM2s are mufflers and too me sound like garbage.

im not too much of a fan of SLP mufflers. Magnaflow and Dynomax are really nice in my opinion. If you want to have a chambered muffler, id recommend the Flowmaster Super 44

u obviously havent heard the lm2.....i have it with an o/r Y and LTs and they are so smooth! no rasp, no drone! a lot deeper than the lm1 and not quite as loud but the tone is so much better! i just installed my cam recently and they still arent raspy! definitely worth the money!

Ive heard both before, but then again they were on Mustangs...

Mufflers are mufflers. Theyre gonna sound similar no matter what car you put it on, its just the sound of the motor and mid pipe thats gonna change it.

Im just saying, that definately on Mustangs they sound like garbage to me. Mach 1s especially. Sounds like a dry fart if you ask me.

To each his own though

i switched from the 1 to the2 and i miss the wicked idle of the 1 but i like the 2 so much better its tame when you want it to be and loud when you need it to be. little to no rasp and much quieter inside. plus you can switch back anytime you want.

i had loudmouths on my mustang! yes the 4vs dont sound all that great with the lm mufflers b/c they dont lose the burble they have with most mufflers but mustangs and ls1's sound nothing alike!!! lm2's sound amazing on the ls1's! it cleans up the raspy note that most have, while still attaining the scream at wot and decent idle! definitely worth the swap!

I've heard both versions, and both were un-refined to put it nicely. Just because it's loud doesn't mean it sounds good.

Im so glad to be done with the loudmouth. I had the LM1 had all kinds of rasp. It sounded nice most of the time but my biggest problem waqs how low the muffler hung. I scraped on everything since my car is lowered. Going ot a custom 4" with a magnaflow now!
