Default Secondary injection CODE!

2001 trans am ...my cars check engine light came on and its the secondary air injection system where should i start and narrow it down... I can hear the air pump coming on and off as im driving is that normal?

It's an air pump code. There was a recall on certain years so you might wanna check that first. If you're in an area where you don't have to pass emissions, removing the air pump is fairly easy and cleans up the engine bay a LOT.

I just cleared mine this morning. Its really nothing to worry about, just wait until you get your car tuned and have your tuner tune the codes out, and do the !AIR mod!

Post the code. Should only operate on cold starts - if you can hear it cycling after warm something else might be going on.

i want the code to come off and not come back ... what could i start to change out .

We need the code to help you, there are several secondary air codes - P0410, P0412, P1415, P1416......could be something as simple as a clogged air check valve.

yeah i have had check valves go on both sides. it may just be that, go get it scanned and post the code.
