Angry Over heating .ehhhhh

So my water pump had a slow leak and the temp was going up to about 240ish. Soo i bought a new water pump, put it on.. the temp still goes up to 240ish not stopping at all.. BUT now it DOESNT leak..

I reused my T-stat, You think it could be isnt opening anymore..? I'm gonna pull the t-stat right now and test it in hott water.

some quick responses will be valued, i have the car up on jack stands right now, Thanks !

Start keeping an eye on oil pressure until you get it fixed. Someone I know had their car running hot like that and it ended up seizing the motor for some reason. His cam was seized to the cam bearings.

Bassicly the high temps were due to friction in the motor. This is when I would like to have an oil temp gauge.

how to check to see if a thermostat is working properly:

Boil some water in a pot and put the thermostat in the water. Lets say it's a 195° t-stat. When the boiling water reaches 195°, you should see the spring compress and the valve open. If so, it's working properly. If not, it's stuck closed and has to be replaced.
