Default LS6 Intake Questions

I am in the market for a LS6 intake. Question is, if I end up with one from a corvette, what need to be changed to make it work on my Camaro ? I thought I heard that something to do with the way the throttle cable works or something. Thanks !

You will need the LS6 coolant pipe and plugs. They are different that what is under your old manifold.

You need to make sure that the LS6 intake you are getting is compatable with the f-body car. That is, there are 2 brass threaded fittings in the side of the front inlet of the manifold so you can mount your throttle cable bracket just like it's mounted on your old manifold.

The Corvette manifolds don't have this.

You really are looking for the f-body LS6 manifold that came stock on the 2002 f-body LS1.

Many think this manifold is the LS6 Corvette unit, but is is different due to the throttle cable bracket mount provisions. Other than that, it's identical to the Vette ZO6/LS6 intake.

Oh, I see you have a 2000 year car. If you have an EGR system (that big pipe going into the top of the manifold), you won't have one with the LS6 intake. You will need to delete it on your car.

Yep, need to either delete the EGR, or buy a SLP modified intake to retain your EGR.

Try looking on Ebay also, lots of intakes in there, might save a few $$$.

Thats where I am looking right now. Also, I have already done the EGR delete mod as it says in my sig, so that is not a problem. So there is no way to make the corvette intake work ?

So if I ask GM parts to give me an intake off a 2002 camaro, I will get the LS6 intake?

Can someone please answer my question instead of B.S.ing in my thread.

Can you make a vette LS6 intake work on a Camaro, and what needs to be done to do it.

I don't think anyone is "B.S. ing" you. In fact, I tried to be as straight with you as I could in my above thread. If you want some help here at LS1Tech, you might try to use a little more tact in dealling with people. The majority of the folks here really DO want to help you.

As to your question about making Corvette Only intake work on your F-Body, as I said above, you will need the LS6 coolant tubes and plugs.

As far as the mounting of your throttle cable bracket, the Corvette LS6 manifold does not have the 2 little holes drilled and tapped with brass inserts needed to attach your f-body bracket. You can try to drill into the Corvette manifold, but I don't have a clue as to where you would ever find the threaded brass inserts. I really doubt that they are avail. Maybe you could pull them out of your old manifold.

You are making this a lot harder than it really is. Just call SDPC. There link is to the far right. Tell them you want an LS6 manifold for your [F-Body]. They will sell you the correct manifold and get you the coolant tubes and plugs you need.

Now, if you are intent on getting a Corvette Only manifold. Get out your drill and start drilling the holes for the brass inserts. Then try prying them out of your old manifold.

Now, see how easy this whole thing is........

Listen, I never said anyone was "B.S.ing" ME, I said, people were B.S.ing in my thread, talking about things that had nothing to do with my question. I dont know how you would have gotten anything else, but that, from my comment.

Also, the only reason I want to know if the vette intake will work is so that when I am bidding on one on Ebay, I will know wether or not I should bid on one that is not off an F-Body. So, now I know not to bid on the Vette piece. Thank you Tin Indian.
