Default Front Mount Headers and Front Exit Exhaust Idea

Hey guys, I've got this radical idea that I wanted to work on a little more. I'm going to be making my car super low and the exhaust has been a constant problem for me. On one hand I can run Mac mid length headers and then modify the drivers foot well to tuck it up high, but I hate the idea of losing leg room. What I would prefer is to flatten and lower both front floor boards. In fact, I don't even like the idea of having to snake a bunch of tubing from the front of the car to the rear. I like the simplicity of a Ferrari or Lambo exhaust as its super short and very simple. So what I'd like to do is buy or make some front mount headers that go into a muffler and then dump the output somewhere in the front of the car. Just make the whole thing super short and simple.

I know legality will be an issue but were I am they don't even do a visual inspection. They just check the computer for codes and that's it. So as long as it's quiet I doubt they're even going to realize the exhaust exits under the front of the car.

The other issue is whether or not any bad exhaust fumes are going to be smelled from inside the car. This I really don't know.

Here's some example pictures of what I'm talking about.

Does anyone sell headers like these?

use oval tubing instead of round to gain ground clearance, something like 2"x4" oval should gain you an inch of additional clearance

Thanks for the info. They want $1,400 for the headers in steel and $1650 for stainless. That's rather rediculous if you ask me. I could make them myself for way less. I was thinking maybe they would be around $400-$500.

I don't need an extra inch. I want to eliminate all of it if possible.

I'll keep working on the idea.

My experience with rock crawlers was this... Idling is going to be your issue obviously. While you're moving at speed it won't be a problem, BUT... In a completely open cockpit (ie: full tube chassis) with all kinds of airflow it wasn't a problem, even while idling or moving at slow speed on the trail. Same situation in closed cab truck with the windows down and guys were choking and tearing up. The closed cabin simply trapped too much without the airflow. That being said, I see A LOT of front mount turbo guys run a 1 or 2 foot downpipe, so...

You might be underestimating the actual amount of exhaust that will be entering the cab... I agree with crashinaz, I think it will be a little too much to handle. Those headers look like they are REALLY tight fit so I dont think you are going to find any that style for cheaper. If you want to try and make some yourself I say go for it. In the end I think the oval tubing will definitely be a more cost effective (even though the tubing can get spendy), simpler way to help out the problem and give you more ground clearance.

Not only that, but also tubbing all 4 wheel wells. It will sit as low as Slammed1500's Camaro. Picture below.

I'm toying with the idea of raising the k-member and engine/trans combo up about 1.5" as well. I still need to check a few more things to see if it can be done as well as if it will be worth it.

If you raise the k-member, i'd think you could make mac mids work, possibly with oval tubing used for the exhaust as well. Just a thought...
