Default Running an Open Cut Out

My buddy was telling me that running my cut out open all the time is bad and can damage my engine. Is this true?

I've never heard of this but I want to make sure....

I have had my long tube's with a catless 3" X system that is dumped at the axles on for two years and the car runs perfectly fine. You will be fine also.

The only thing thats not really good for an engine would be to have just headers with no exhaust and to drive it like that all the time.

^ That's what I thought. He doesn't frequent these boards, I'm thinking he should. When he told me I'm going to damage the engine, I was like um ok never heard of that. Thanks for reassuring me

Well, as far as I know, this is only true for older engines. Something about the valves getting deformed.. We've got better valves and seats these days

Open headers is fine as well. You just need to run extension pipes off the headers to not kill your o2's.

I've been running my cutout open since I got it...I think I capped it twice. It wont hurt anything, like others have stated. Get it, leave it open, have fun. Tell your friend to get internet, and get on tech to learn a thing or two before he spreads more misinformation.
